Do I really need this?

I am interested in removing the middle seat in my boat. What I have to work with is not what I actually wanted but what I have. I picked up a 12 ft almunicraft the wider one that was brand new with the paperwork still attached to the side for 500. It also came with a 4.5 hp motor and some other odds and ends. Any ways fron what I can read here some say that I have to keep the seats and others say get rid of them. I am considering removing all from the middle but about 15in give or take a few from the sides out. I am trying to make a little room and have plans to deck it this winter with 1 1/2 almin to keep down on the weight. As a matter of fact I have already got everything that I need but the plywood. Will the sides collapse or if the boat flips will it just not float as well?
