I do not know much about rivets but have been reading a lot and am getting a little confused. What kind of Rivet comes stock on a Lowe Jon Boat? Is it considered a closed end rivot or is it a solid rivet? I want to replace a few but I want to do so using what they actually use at the factory.

Currently I am looking at the Aluminum Rivet/Aluminum Mandrel Dome head in 3/16" because that is what I was reading about and is supposedly close to stock? Is that truly the case? https://www.rivetsonline.com/rivets-en/blind-rivets-en/closed-end-blind-rivets.html

They also have some here... https://www.nutsandbolts.com/rivets-closed-end-blind-pop-rivets-c-249_429.html

Just want to make sure I do this right the first time :)

I don't have a lowe boat but 2 of my friends do and from what I remember, all the through hull rivets are solid. I can't remember seeing any pop rivets used in their boats but wouldn't swear that they don't have.

I hope you don't consider this a hijack but what kind of tool do they use put a solid rivet on a boat. I don't see how it can work unless someone or something is on the other side. I have never seen a manufacturer use a pop rivet type rivet.

I dont know much about rivets but if it is a solid Rivet then I am not sure that you can do it without 2 people. If you were working on a transom you could probably get away with it since you can reach both sides to hold something hard on the back side. But for doing under the hull I would imagine you need 2 people... one to hard something hard on the rivet and another to work the air hammer or whatever it is.
