Been pig hunting for the last three weekends. My girlfriend wanted to go to the lake this weekend so I took her and the dog today.
Was thinking the crappie had already spawned so decided to just troll for sand bass and largemouth. That way they could stay cool and we could kick back and kinda relax and enjoy the day.
Well at first I caught 2 small largemouth. Then moved to another spot and caught 2 sandbass. Then moved to another spot I like and caught eight crappie (all on regular Bomber A crankbaits). I have caught one here and there on crankbait or spinnerbait but no more than one in a trip.
I thought well they must have spawned and are coming out of the creeks, but when I got home and cleaned them they had eggs and so did the sandbass. So I guess I haven't missed the spawn after all. Next week I'll try and be all over them.
