I need to replace the foam in the floor of my boat, the original foam is 1 3/4 and the height of the ribs is 1 3/4 thick.

I want to use the pink or blue foam board from lowes, but they only carry 1 1/2 or 2 inches.

I am putting the factory aluminum floor back down.

My idea is to use 1 1/2 foam board and then on top of this use a 1/4 piece of plywood covered with spar urethane. Would this work?

I never want to take this floor up again as its about 200 rivets to do it.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Try Home Depot. I got 2" 1.5" and 1” and they make a 1/4" that comes folded up.

It looks like you have a uniform thickness to buildup. Lucky!!
Since my "V" bottom changes with every rib I am going to try to level it out at 1.5" below the deck by cutting, filing and building up with a variety of thicknesses. Then I'll lay down one final continuous sheet of 1.5" as much as I can.

I really like that they make it in 1/4" didn't see that, but I really don't need 50ft of it. Im sure I could find some use for the extra if I go that route.

thanks

I'd spilt a package of it with you but I think the postage would not work out :LOL2:

haha was thinking the same thing. Ill be in Rhode island in June, think they will let me take it on a plane. lol

Is there a reason you're not considering using 1" + ¾"?

Awesome thats what I will do, I didn't know they sold those sizes at lowes, thanks a ton -Problem Solved

Probably no need to glue them together if they're cut the same size and placed under the deck panels, they're not likely to shift around.

You are correct, certain types of glues will melt that foam board. Look in the section of home depot that sells caulk, they have a specific adhesive formulated for foam board.
