I found a weldbilt dealer about 1.5-2 hours away from me. I'm going to take the plunge and order one this week.
I've researched a lot of stuff on here about weldbilt boats and jon boats in general. Here are my thoughts on whats going to guide me in my order.
Everyone says get the biggest you can afford. OK I'm thinking 1860 with 28" sides and 20" transom. Would a 2060 make much difference? I could squeeze one of those out of my budget maybe.
Mod-v or flat front. still up in the air. 85-90 percent of the use will be in a mile long strip mine lake with a trolling motor. Big waves aren't a problem on the lake. But the other 10 - 15 percent will be on the mississippi river or the Illinois river.
One of my fishing buddies says flat front so we have more room up there when setting jugs etc. Another buddy that fishes on the mississippi says mod. v for the just in case and resale. Input?
Split seat pods in the back with livewell on one side and storage on the other side.
Floor with sidewalls for easy cleaning.
An 84" inch rod/gun box on the starboard side. Been considering on both sides. Too much? input?
three pedestal bases front middle and back.
And another storage box midways depending on if I get two rod boxes.
Does this sound like a good setup to you guys? opinions or input?
Thanks for letting me ramble.
