How do you secure your outboard?

I've currently got padlocks run thru the eyes of the mounting screw hardware so a thief would need a pair of bolt cutters to jack my motors. I've seen the metal bar ouboard locks that install on the hardware too and look like a good investmet at $20-30.

most of the time my boat is parked in a friends garage but if I have a late night or early morning trip I park it at my apt complex. which is classy :roll: and gated, but certainly not thief proof.

Wondering if anybody has come up with any other great idea's for securing your outboard motor?

the lock should deter sufficiently... put 2 long bolts with nyloc nuts and generous amount of silicone...

a thief is not gonna wanna sit there long enough to cut the lock, and unscrew some long winded nuts that you gotta wrench them all the way off...

now, if they want it bad enough, they will get it.... just as long as it aint easy for them, you did all you can do...

fwiw...a boat cover is an easy way to help.... yeah, they can just peel the cover back, but if its not sitting there looking pretty and teasing them, they may simply not bother with it...

I put evinrude stickers on mine. :LOL2: :LOL2:

I actually broke off the handles of my motor (not on purpose, but it was a happy accident), so whoever tries to steal it will have to work a little harder for it. I also ran some SS bolts with nyloc nuts.

Mine is secured by Winchester and 8 pig dogs
If they get past that lot they can have it

Funny right there...

My outboard is secured by 4 bolts thru the transom and is kept indoors. Transom trolling motor is secured by a steel cable and padlock.

"8 pig dogs", need some further explanation there...
