With river system and smaller lakes opening up, and the bigger lakes still fishable for short time before iceout. The walleyes are fattened up full of eggs on the feed just before spawn. Also here in SD season never closes like some states.
Few fishing buddies have landed some dandies last couple days. One 8.5 lber in open water on river system, and other about 75 miles north got a 28"er and 29"er on ice, which doubt will be accessible after this week. I have been to busy at work hope to get after them this weekend sometime. It's been killin me..... But it only will get better til spawn hits.
These are released back in lake/river waiting to bit on the next fisherman's lure.
