Mercury controls

I’m looking for info on control compatibility between two old mercs.

I’m helping a guy with his boat and it has a 1979 mercury with issues that render it unsalvagable.

The boat is a 1971 fleetcraft and we have found a 1957 Mercury 25 which is a tiller motor and are wondering if it can use the same controls.

Anyone have any idea?

Control cables - Best I recall the 600A Merc cables went from 1965 to 2003, or even later IF not a newer Gen-II type. No idea on older cables, as I ain't THAT old ... yet.

Harness - Most can be adapted as needed.
