Does anyone have a Moeller Drain Tube Flanging Tool for a 1" tube that they would be willing to loan/mail to me. $35 for this seems ridiculous to me. I will of course include payment for your postage when I return it.

Or, if someone has a way that they installed a drain tube without it, I'm all ears...

I didn't want to shell out the $35 either! I flanged mine with a ball peen hammer, it was easy. And free!

It can be done with a 1/2" threaded rod some washers and nylock nut with the nylon removed and backwards. There is a good write up with drawings somewhere on www.iboats.com

I checked out iboats and found the thread with the homemade flanging tool. That is one big locknut I would have to get. I liked some of the other ideas that were in the thread also, including some that involved a ball peen hammer.
The one I'm leaning towards is the large bolt and using a wingnut to get the flange started to about a 45 degree angle, then using a flat washer and nut or the ball peen hammer to finish flattening it out. If anyone else is interested, here is the link:

If you are will to loan out the tool? I'll have 2 splash well drains to install soon.
I'll pay shipping both ways.

Im willing to loan it out. We can even do a pass if both of you guys (or any additional people) need it. I made it but it works fine, doesn't flare anything thinner than 3/4" and its made for 1" drain tubes. Ill PM Nelsongg and see if he needs it. If i dont get a response by 4:30EST ill send it your way. Pm me your address

This is really nice of you. I won't be ready for it for a few weeks.
Thank you.

still need it?
Yes but not too soon. On April 12th we had a really bad hail storm here. I've been delayed while we get the roof, the gutters, the siding and some paint work done. Then there was the car which had $4000.00 in damage.
Thanks
