mounting seat base

Would like to put 3/4 pin type seat base on the pod of my xpress 1650. The aluminum looks to be either .100 or .125 , and have no access below. If I had one on the pod the seat would only be used in the low position, no pedestal. Would this hold up with mounted to the pod with screws tapped to fit, or maybe toggle bolts? Anyone here have any experience with this? Thanks.

Look into rivnuts, they work really well.

You could open up the pod, mount the seat with a backer/support plate underneath and nuts and bolts, and use one of those round access panels to seal it back up so to speak. Assume the pod has some floatation foam in, so....
