Where to find aluminum helm ( style as pictured ) for sea nymph conversion to remote steering?

I have a Lone Star similar to the one pictured above. Mine is King Commander with the side steering unit as shown. I have found they are very difficult to even find one in a Lone Star ad. It's an option listed and none are pictured. I would think you might be better off fabricating one if you have the skills.

Thanks I have a new revolutionPD side console to mount now and if my project works I will think about fabricating a SC later.

Post up a pic of that revolution side console. Im planning on grabbing one for my boat too!

There are aftermarket consoles available for a few hundred dollars. The steering and remote controls are another matter--they can be relatively expensive. These are pretty much manufacturer specific and the lowest motor set up for remote you can get is 9.9HP. However, the same remote control will fit a wide range of HPs.

I want a side console too. For a lot of reasons. After watching ads and doing a bit of research, think the easiest, smartest, and maybe only option is to replace the boat and motor. Yet, side console boats are really rare around here. Especially if you don't want a jon. One thing I've noticed is boats with side consoles seem to be wider than those without one. Maybe making the conversion a not so great idea?

Does that solve the problem really though? I could do the sheet metal work. I own a brake. My concern is more the controls, cables, steering wheel, electrical. Obtaining a motor with electric start or scrounging up a starter and alternator for a motor I already have. Seems like a lot of messing to me and could get pricey even if you can do most of the work yourself. If I got it wrong feel free to put me straight. I'm kind of new to all this.

I have the RPD 1422 side console, gray, without the porta pot, at the beam I intend to mount it will not cross mid-line. I have the steering cable to go with 9.9 Honda remote I pulled off my 13‘ whaler ( upgraded to 30hp, not for the grandkids anymore, and not a trawler anymore). Also need to lift the motor 6 inches Because of long shaft. Have the material to do that and lightly beef up transom. Sea Nymph R 14 A, ( car topper from ~1960, Aero manufacturer Syracuse, IN) max load 700 pounds, max hp 12hp. Hope to post before, during and after pictures over next few weeks.

Is there a fabricator in your area, maybe you can have one made?
If my project works out, I will see about fabricating one later to be true to the time. I Plan to mount the plastic helm in a way to minimize any boat Modifications.

What is porta pot? A relative of a trucker bomb?

Could you please post a picture of your Lone Star King Commander with SC. I’m working on one and am interested in how this was accomplished. Mine has a poorly executed non-factory forward/front helm that I’d like to replace.
If anyone has pictures of a factory front helm for this boat they would be appreciated.

Guys,
For what it's worth, you might want to search on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist for a side console.

I scan regularly, and often get them for $50-$100. I keep several on hand so I have them as needed. The ones out of pontoons are sometimes nice, too, but are often bigger. I cut them down sometimes, if needed.

Guys around here often buy a jon and remove the console, and switch to a tiller for duck hunting.
Here is one I just installed in a 16' Starcraft Mariner. Not a super wide boat, but enough for that little console.

No, I didn't paint the boat or console or dress it up. I decided I wasn't going to keep it, so I just hooked everything up, tested it and sold as-is.

A guy in his 20's bought it and LOVES the boat. He and his buddies are virtually living on it this summer. Nice to see someone who really uses their boat, instead of just letting it sit and rot.

He was talking about doing a vinyl wrap. If he does, I hope he sends pics. It's a solid boat. He can do a lot with that canvas.

Wish I lived in your world, been looking for a year now and not a single helm has been put up for sale.

What search gets you the most hits? Simply "side console"? I think I'll be in need of one myself soon/ I have one on hand I also picked up off marketplace years ago but it is half fiberglass or something composite and its pretty brittle. The boat I'll be needing it for is all aluminum so I'd like to keep the trend going with the console as well.

BTW, check out this swing away side console I just stumbled upon. Not what I need but definitely pretty cool and I could see where it would be useful.
