Fishing was OK, 5 keepers among the three boats. After the fact, some locals told us the fish the main channel at daybreak for the best results. I don't know about hotels, we are within driving distance.

What does it take to "float your boat"?

When I converted my carpeted bunks to my new roller bunks, I noticed that the brackets thatconect the bunks to the trailer were adjustable heightwise. I was able to lower the boat about 2", every bit helps.

    HIN

I may be wrong, but I think 1972 or 1973 was the first of the HIN.

Boat Cover Support....and it ain't even Christmas

Looks good and strong! I built one out of thin 3/4" PVC last year and it work great all winter and spring, but when the south Georgia heat hit during the summer it collapsed and turned into a pile of white spaghetti. I rebuilt it using metal this time :D .

    1436 alumacraft - opinions wanted

I used L1.5"x1.5"x .125" structural angles on most of my build. When I ran them left to right, length of about 3'-4", the angle flexed more than I wanted so I put a leg at the centerpoint to the floor and it was much stiffer. My point is 4'-8" is a long span and might require more bracing or...

    1436 alumacraft - opinions wanted

I used 3/8" on my decks with the joists about 12" o.c. I add a extra layer about 12"x12"x3/8" under where the seat mounts and my deck feels pretty solid. You can cut alot of weight using the thinner plywood, a good thing in a 1436.

Motorguide Transom Mount or MinnKotta Endura Transom Mount

One thing I like about my Minn Kota is the fin is on the front of the motor unit thus providing me a nice bit of protection for my depth finder's transducer. Fin, then transduscer then prop. The MG's fin is on the back near the propeller. This might not pertain to you but it is why I'll stay...

Once upon a time there was a 14' JB...

Here is what the finish looks like, look at the side behind the rods. I did the sides, inside the center storage console and the back battery compartment. The 1 gallon just barely covered it all with two coats. I went to Lowes to get some regular exterior house paint that matched the Tuff...

Once upon a time there was a 14' JB...

I used Tuff Coat from Basspro: https://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=74554&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults I weighted about 5-10lbs for the gallon. It turned out great and I would use it again.

    '73 1436 Eldocraft build up

https://www.onlinemetals.com I got most of the metal from this site. I did all of my cutting using a metal cutting blade in my jig saw. It cut very easy with the jig saw but I went through about six blades and ten 1/8" drill bits for all the pop rivets.

I finally got it wet yesterday and it did better than expected. It wasn't tippsy at all while seated and it was pretty stable even while I stood on the front deck. My little 24# thrust trolling motor needs an upgrade now though, it is slower now with the extra weight. It is much quieter also...
