    S.E. Massachusetts? Non-profesional tournaments?

Any interest? Im not sure I can really organize, but how hard can it be to have some guys meet on a sunday morning for some friendly fishing competition? Like many on this site, we have a home made jon boat, not a $60K rig. Like minded anglers NEED APPLY. We'll see if we can put something together.

    PROP INSTALLATION?

We have all of the parts in the picture installed in perfect order (from our manual). The prop has about 1/16 inch "play" in/out (not turning play). We are debating whether this is right, or are we missing a shim? Sorry. the motor is a Nissan/Tohatsu 70HP w. power trim. I think its a...

    How does this happen!?

See the picture...This is a 70HP Nissan we bought last summer. It ran like new for awhile, then it started to "slip" (like a clutch slipping in a car), and it would stop pumping water at anything faster than a jog. We put the boat away for the winter, and when I just went out to look at it for a...

is my motor cavitating? pulling more air than water?

We just upgraded from our very underpowered 35HP to a 70HP on our 17' jon boat. We had to raise the transom 4" so that the cavitation plate would be 1" below the bottom of the boat (which is what was recommended everywhere I researched). When we power it up and try to plane out, it's like it's...

Can I use any control box on a Nissan outboard?

We just picked up this motor (1988 Nissan 70HP/tohatsu motor w/ electronic trim) and need to get a control box with the electric trim accessory. Can we use a merc/johnson etc? Are they somewhat universal? I know we can change/fabricate the cable ends if neccessary to attach to our motor, but...

    Looking at a 60HP Johnson...no spark.

I'm considering purchasing this motor. I am mechanical and can fix almost anything, but I am not sure about parts availability/$$$. The guy says it will turn over, has good compression, but has no spark. It's a V4. That's all I will know when/if I buy it.

Replacing a water pump in a 35HP johnson seahorse.

Sorry if this is somewhere on the forum already, but there are soooo many posts now (congrats Jim on the success of the site). We have a mid-late 70's Johnson 35HP Seahorse, and I'm concerned about the water pump. It will pump water, but we need to be moving at a pretty good rate for it to...

    painting an aluminum jon boat?

We want to paint our aluminum jon boat before the start of the season, but have recieved several opinions on the best way to do this. So I figured I would get the general consensus from here... The boat currently has a semi-full camoflage paint job, meaning it was sprayed camo, but not...

question on my 35HP Johnson Seahorse.

Thanks for reading my post. Attacehd is a pic of my motor. I am not sure of the year, but guessing it's a late 70's. The problem I am having now (I've posted for help on this before) is with the throttle. It's just very tight. We disengaged the linkage so I am sure the problem is between the...

fish finders? Are they worth it in shallow waters?

I have been reading alot of info on fishfinders, and have yet to find the answer to my question. I probably could have saved alot of time and posted here for member advise. (and by "save alot of time" I mean...be lazy :D ) I found the map of the lake we fish (simply "googled" it. I actually...

Late 70's Johnson needs motor mounts and lower unit seal?

Thanks for reading my post. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. We Bought this late 70's Johnson Sea Horse 35 HP motor for $200 "as is". We gambled buying it without hearing it run. It needed a fuel pump, water outlet elbo, and the fuel inlet connector. We replaced all of those parts...

3 Man Bass Boat. Done and on the water!

Well, I'll start by declaring that we (my father, brother, and myself) are new to the site and we love it. We've been looking at the conversions posted here for weeks waiting for the weather to break to start on our project. We're finally getting close to some good weather (we're in Mass.) The...
