Got caught up in the fishing and didnt write daily reports for a few days but
I have been fishing daily for Crappie with some Gills , LMB and Pickerel in the mix along with a few Yellow Perch , Golden Shiners and White Perch .
Pretty much the same things everyday ..

When I returned to my truck I had a flat tire so I headed home and got it fixed and returned to another area . This area is what I like to refer to as "The Training Area" . Its a place where you can catch fish after fish on EVERY cast and if you can NOT catch a fish you need to be pushed in for a dip ;):)
Here's a Video I took as soon as I got there .. Every Cast !!

After the camera ran out of memory I switched to a Chart Sassy Shad and bailed Bigger Crappie like this ..

Hit the "Training" area for 2 hours on the 7th from 2 to 4 pm and had a decent bite with fish on about every cast with lots of White Perch and Crappie .. I am confused about why the WP bit so well but I'm glad they did :)
I used a few different Chart plastics suspended 2' under a casting bobber . The bite completely died between 4 and 4:15pm .. I couldnt buy a bite after 4 ?
Oh well here's a few pics ..

Tim came down and we hit the same area from about 1pm to 4:30pm and again the bite died at 4pm but we managed quite a few Crappie in the 20 to 30 MPH winds . We left and hit the swimming beach and found most of the Park area UNDER WATER .. The water at the "training" area was over a foot higher than yesterday .WE CAUGHT NOTHING AT THE BEACH so we returned to the training area and again the bite was totally DEAD . We headed back to my place and made more plans for some Salt action .

IRI 12-8 /12-9-2009
Tim and I arrived around 7pm and found stained water with whitecapps and waves splashing the bulkhead sending spray well into the air .. Did not look pretty and with winds in our face (SW) at 15 to 25 MPH I didnt expect much .
After about 20 minutes and a few missed strikes for both of us I look over and see this ..

The result ..

I then saw a strange fish swimming close to shore so I walked out and flung it up on the sand with my hand .. Interesting to see this fish (Ribbon Fish) here at this time of year ..

Next I switched to a 3/4 ounce bucktail and had a nice slam and it pulled a bit of drag but after 3 turn of the handle it popped off but I still had a fish on the hook and I dont know what it is ??
100_4714.jpg

Funny thing was I got slammed by a freight train that also popped off and I swear the the small fish was just eaten by a striper and then it saw the bucktail and ate it also .. I figured it happened so fast that the Striper didnt even get a chance to swallow the small unknown fish and had both the fish and bucktail in its mouth and when I set up my hook hooked into the small fish and the Striper spit both . I small fish l was alive but you could tell it was inside another fish for awhile .. I never had that happen before and it was pretty neat ..
A few casts later I finally land one on a bucktail ..

Check out that Stripers tail ..
100_4716.jpg

Tim hooks up again and lands another ..
100_4717.jpg

It had an isopod on its fin ..
100_4719.jpg

I had approx 8 bites with 3 fish on but I just did not have the strength to properly set the hook and lost every one leaving me with only 1 Striper for the trip and Tim landed 3 Stripes.. Looks like I'm gonna have to rest up my Elbow , Shoulder and back or start fishing left handed and thank God I am ambidextrous and can use either hand almost equally well and if I head back I will be in "Lefty" mode ;)

Looks like you are right but I too refer to both as the same but it seems I've never seen a Ribbonfish .. Thanks for the clarification Doc :)
