I am a relatively new member.
Found some very valuable info and ideas on this forum so I thought I'd try to contribute.

My wife and I bought this boat last April. Had a great season with it but wanted it to be ours and a little less ugly.

So here are some before, during and after shots. The photos are in reverse order so start at the bottom.
I think they are self explanatory otherwise.

We still aren't quite finished..... still working on the canopy but I will post that in another section whenever it gets done.

Any questions or comments are welcome

Thanks!

It was way too much work....... I will likely never do it again lol
I think it will be new boat next time

Having said that, I am very proud of our work.

You should be proud. It looks great and solid. Plus you both spent quality time and achieved something tangible that can be used for years to come. Your first restore is great

satx,

you know there is money in refurbing old boats, motors, etc, unfortunately the money all goes the wrong way. :LOL2:

Very nice looking boat.

SumDumGuy,

LOL. - I should have said, "if there was money to be made in restoring boats". = I've never made even a thin dime on any boat/motor that I've done.

yours, satx

Great looking boat!! I just bought my first - a 71 Starcraft Seafarer and it looks very similar to yours.. It even has the same paint scheme (although your paint job looks much more quality than mine). Did you paint the floor black? Or is that some kind of matting/carpeting?

Nice work!! =D>

The floor is painted silver the same as the interior walls.
The black on the floor is actually a series of rubber anti-fatigue mats that fit just right between the ribs. They help to reduce noise and vibration and are also the same height as the ribs making the floor virtually flat.

GoneFishin34 » 06 Jun 2014, 12:01[/url]"]Very cool! Where did you get the anti-fatigue mats? Are they heavy?

I got them at Canadian Tire..... Canadian chain as the name implies.
All together the mats probably weigh 50lbs

Looks great! I have a nearly identical Alumacraft I am starting next week after the trailer arrives.
Did you attach the sump pump to the hull with silicone sealant or is it just resting on the deck?
Do you find that water builds up between the ribs or do you have good flow to the stern?
Is that a pedastal mount on the bow, nav lights, a flag bracket? My wife is curoius...

Thanks again for the great posts and pictures. I learned a lot.

-Pump is attached to the transom support with 1 self drilling screw
-Water does build up quite quickly between the ribs. The mats help it overflow to the stern.
-The bracket on the bow is for our 'canopy' that is still in work. It's going to be like the ones on 'Swamp People'. We are using an old tempo-garage as a donor for the poles.
