15 HP Johnson water pump question

I have a 1989, I think, 15 HP Johnson that is not spitting water so Im assuming the imperller is bad. Is this a DIY repair? I have googled it and it seems pretty straight forward but want to know if I need to check any other areas. Also can you tell me how to check the water tube to see if it may be cloged, can I simply shoot some water up there from the hose?

It's a pretty easy task for you to complete. There could be a number of reasons why the water isn't spitting water.

I don't know where or how you are testing the motor, but if it's in a bin/can, make sure that you have the motor deep enough so that the watever comes over the top of where the water pump is... not just up to the water intake.
