Another good morning and a lesson learned and put to use.
A year or so ago, I fished with an assigned boater ( I have the boat; he was assigned to fish with me in our little tournament). He was a PIA in most ways.
In one of his semi-constant bitching sessions, he remarked that I had the boat too close to the shoreline "The fish can see us". said he...
He went on to catch most of the fish that we turned in that day after I moved the boat a bit further offshore. As much as I hate to admit it, he was 100% correct.
These small lakes here are very clear and deep. That is far from the mud-bottomed Southern Wisconsin lakes that I used to fish. The water in my former location wasn't clear; weeds abounded, and you could drop a worm or jig into the middle of a lily-pad flat and pretty much expect a fish to give you a thrill.
As my PIA guest pointed out, in these lakes, one has to stay a good distance back from the fish's lair. I did it three days in a row now. Hold back; make long casts; be patient, and whammm. Catch some fish.
regards, rich
I put five in the boat in two hours (again). Sorry for the fuzzy pix. The fish wouldn't hold still. Ha Ha
