I just looked at a 1986 riveted jon, 18 feet long and about 50-52 inches wide on the bottom. Where can I find out about this boat model? How good of a rep do old Alumacraft's have? Is this a boat to avoid?

Also it had a 1992 Johnson 40 horse on it with power trim and tilt.

The boat looked OK. It is obviously an old boat. They had plywood bolted to the transom (Stock???) and a dent in on the nose rail that had been rewelded.

Any advice is appreciated - thanks

I have a 1648 alumacraft about that same year, and its been a very good boat. Its a little beat up but dont leak a drop. Only way I would get rid of it is if I could find a welded 17 foot side counsel boat and motor CHEAP. I would say if its in decent shape and priced right go for it.
