I did a search, but nothing really answered my question.
We want to install a Bimini top, but the gunwales are not really designed to mount one. I thought about riveting some 1" aluminum "L" to the spot where it will mount, but it would go over the gunwale, not toward the interior.
Any installed pics would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would rivet 1" box tubing opposed to the l bracket as it will be stronger. Why not make something out of the mounting points like a cup holder or small lure container or something. Nothing crazy but something small and functional so it doesn't look like a piece of metal just hanging on the side of the boat?

You can use something like this mounted on the inside gunnel.
