I'd first like to say, this is a great site. I've been lurking for a while, ever since I decided I was going to purchase a little boat. I finally came across one, and purchased it. It's a 1970 12' MirroCraft semi v, with a 2004 Johnson 8hp motor. This site has given me some great ideas for modification. I plan on decks, seats, trolling motor, fish finder, lights, carpet, and paint. I've never attempted anything like this before, so I'm getting help from a more experienced friend of mine. We're only in the planning phase right now, although we're looking to start working on the project this weekend.

I took a bunch of pictures yesterday, but I have no idea how to load them onto a website like this. I saw one of the Moderators posted a picture tutorial. I'd love to have a link to that, or have someone tell me how to post pictures. :D

I would suggest using Photobucket.com and creating a free account. It automatically resizes the pictures for you, then all you have to do is copy the IMG link and post it on this page. You really don't have to go through that whole process as in the link above.

Awesome. Thanks Russ. That's exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully with my wife's help I'll be able to post some pics tonight!

If you have any questions, fire them away!!

Photobucket is like an external hard drive for me... I keep everything in separate folders so that I can go and see what was done. For example, I keep all fish in folders caught in a folder like (Lake Yahoola - Mar 09)... Then I can go and see what I caught, as well as see what I was using (if I was smart enough to take a picture of the bait at the same time)

My first step is going to be paint. I'd like to paint the exterior red, and the interior gray. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as stripper, primer, and paint?

You can use the rustoleum metal that you can get in Home Depot and Lowe's and it looks pretty good. But I'm not sure about the long lastings of it. I can tell you Lizard Drager painted his boat with this stuff, and it looks awesome - and I think he sprayed on a few thick coats of it without spraying thinner.

You can roll or brush it, but if you go that route, I would definitley roll it with a fine nap roller to get the best finish. Lightly wetsand between each coat after it dries and you'll be looking good.

I used Pettit EasyPoxy paint, and Zinc Chromate primer.

here's my Mirrocraft 12' I been working on recently. I like the progress so far we have took it for a test drive it was pretty stable after adding weight to the front, against others advice. I was standing on the front deck casting in not so calm water after the weight. Before that we were scared sitting.
