About the noodling, anyone can have my turn. I have tried to rescue too many snappers crossing the road, to deal with another. I don't need another animal biting at my arm.

I could out run a snappin' turtle on land, however, I don't think I could out swim a huge catfish!

Here's a link listing retailers who carry the Lipper:

If you go a little farther in, you can see the same company has a 15 pound one for $17.99. Doesn't have the Lipper name though. But if I was wanting a gripper tool, I would go with the 26 pound Lipper as it also comes with the sheath which by itself sells for $29.95.

Handling snappers is not too bad. You just pick them up by the tail, making sure to keep them away from your legs and any other lower appendages.

How do you remove a $8 topwater frog from a 30lb snapper?

You go buy another $8 topwater frog. :D

The gripper that Jim posted a link to from Cabela's looked like a pretty good bang for the buck.
And it floats.... LOL

With a pair of pliers after I'd shot it.

That's an easy one too.

Get him on the bank, pull your line taught, put one foot on his shell and whip out the fillet knife. You get your lure back and someone that likes turtle gets themselves a tasty treat.

Sometimes those great big ones will unhook themselves. I've seen one grab a buzzbait with a heavy hook and straighten the thing out like a nail by pulling on it between his claws. After that, he just swam off.

Something I have been using for the past year is a fish gripper from Team Catfish.

I'm not sponsored by them but they make some great products.

Looks like the same thing that Cabelas sells but yellow.

Yes, I would think so. They are very nice to display fish for photos or to keep a larger catfish from spinning when removing the hook. I own and also use a Berkley Lip Grip but the plastic ones are easier to operate, at least for me.
I'm the last one to find out everything, don't go to town much.
