Horizontal Rod Storage Ideas

I would like to store 3-4 rods/reels horizontally, but am not seeing where I can do it with my current floor plan. Previous owner used a small cooler up at front bow area (just behind the small forward seat) with a 4 rod rack bolted to cooler. However the rods were stored vertically. Rods stored vertically can pose challenges when casting and fishing fish.

I was thinking of something on sides of hull, but the side pods have opening lids and the bow curvature forces you top keep rods towards the stern.

Thoughts?
Any pics out there of how you store your rods/reels horizontally?

I have home made rod holders along the inside of the hull, but your arrangement doesn't really allow for that.

I had a similar issue in my previous 15' side console boat. I ended up just laying the rods wherever they were out of the way.

Foam-type rod holders, forward ones mounted on those angle brackets connecting the seat to the sides of the boat. Looks pretty straight-forward to me of an install ...

I have a 14’ boat, 14’ rods. Even 7’ rods are an issue. I’ve bought two plastic cutting boards. Trying to figure out what to do.

DaleH ....Thanks for the suggestions and great pics! I'll measure to see if those foam type will fit. I don't want anything sticking up above gunnel....maybe they can be cut down or make ones for 2-3 rods. I'm on it!

What Dale posted is probably your best bet, and yesvthey are availiable in 2-3 rod holder units though they be from a different mfgr. If your handy with tools you can make your own, I have made a few over the years from nice looking wood. This past summer I downgraded to a smaller 16' tinnie which has rod storage boxes. I was quite excited to have these as all my previous boats did not have enclosed rod storage. After my first summer with the enclosed rod storage, can't say I am that impressed!! Kind of a hassle to get them out and put back in. I ended up using bungee cords on top of the rod storage lids to keep rods in place, I find this much easier and user friendly.....

I troll a lot with just 2 rods. 1 on each side. the rods are pre rigged with lures. If i want to CAST to fish ? I take a rod and add a heavy enough split shot to get it down deep enough. My 16' Lowe is a snug fit with a 14 & a 6 gallon fuel tank. Plus a padded armed rest fishing chair in the center compartment.
I have never needed more than 2 rods in any boat.

There is also these, which are somewhat flexible and you can mount them to a curved surface if needed. I also preferred one with a velcro strap for transport.

The three (foam, rubber, plastic) are all great possibilities. Wish I had all three to see which ones fit/work best. I guess I can order all three and send the ones back that do not work form me.

Me either, until one day my rod snapped in half leaving only one to fish with !! Nowadays I carry three just in case....this has saved me a lot of money because I haven't broken another rod since !! The worst part about carrying only two is that your buddy always wants to use one which only leaves you one !!! Lol....

I had the Moeller version previously. The rubber part did not last. Replacement parts are crazy expensive. Got rid of them.

Maybe others had better luck, IDK.

Boat is stored outside under a cover. Weather here is pretty mild. I originally thought it was a good design. Changed my mind when they started to split apart. Maybe I'm hard on rod holders, IDK.

I put a pair of offset driftmaster tip savers on my 1236, worked out great attached to bench height is about 6in. above the gunnel.
