I bought an outboard stand with Minn Kota trolling motor for $15. Both were looking pretty harsh. I painted the stand white; replaced the motor support 2x6, and put a plywood base in the stand. I watched a You Tube video on taking the Minn Kota apart. I removed the parts and pieces. I was surprised to see the motor armature in fantastic shape as were the brushes. No water damage. I ordered a seal kit and see how it goes.

If you look at the center picture at the black section of housing you will see the shaft seal. It had some kind of metal reinforcement that is rusted nearly to death. The rubber is hardening and likely would fail with any use. Dry as could be inside the motor housing. I will post more about it as I get it together and test.
