I agree with Loggerhead Mike - a larger motor would definitely scoot you along nicer, but you do have your budget to consider. I'd look into seeing if you can't find a good used motor for sale at a local outboard repair shop, and being that you're from Alabama I know that there are scads of reliable dealers around. That's a heavy duty 16' boat you're pushing around there and with the added weight of your mods I really think you'd be happier with a 15 hp or better on it. Polar Kraft is a great boat whose manufacturing facility is about 5 miles from my house.

Well, I didn't see that the thread went on to a 2nd page and I see you've already got the motor. It'll be fine, just don't go getting in a hurry, oh wait, you won't :lol: It looks like you did a great job. Have fun, it's almost time!!
