Last summer I bought a digital SLR. I have used Olympus cameras for 35 years and again went with Olympus. I know Nikon has superior optics but frankly I couldn't afford Nikon. One thing to look for when you decide is the image stabilization feature. In many cameras it it built into the lens and therefore drives up the cost of each lens. In Olympus it is built into the body so you don't have to pay for it every time you buy another lens. I bought an Olympus E-520 and am very happy with it.

Here's a review on the Nikon D5000 https://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/c...words-intoff&gclid=CKPhntn0rZ4CFQ8eDQodfUIwmA

If you are going to buy online, I have purchased through Calumet several times and have always had good service https://www.calumetphoto.com/

I have had several Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras. I currently have a Canon SX10IS, got tired of changing lenses. You didn't go wrong with the Nikon. I like Canon but personally think Nikon has the better lenses.
