I am looking at installing rocker switches in my boat. Has anyone tried to do this with out buying a ready to install board? If you have, please tell me what you used to mount the switches.

I also went with a simi-hard pc. of plastic, it was easy to work with. you can see it at (https://www.electric-bass.org) click on navigation menu, then click on "fully rigged ebc boat" the rocker switches light up for night fishing. Also , the switches only needed a 1/2 inch hole drilled opposed to carving out a square hole.

Great switch panels. Where did you get those rocker switches?

I got the switches at Wal-Mart in the auto dept. Hopefully they still carry them, they have a habit of switching suppiers. but I'm sure you can still find some with the 1/2" post that goes through the panel with a nut to secure it. I've carved out the sqare hole before , it can be a pain and you have to be pretty accurate so the switch snaps in (also the panel cannot be too thick with those square switches or they won't snap in).

I used an electrical connection box to do mine... the box was either $8 or $11 at Home Depot, and the switches from BluewaterLED for $3 each, all I had to do was drill a 3/4" hole and I was done...
