Transom mount trolling motor, how to plce prop depth?

Hi. I have a 34lb thrust MinnKota on the back of my boat. How deep should I put the prop, or how much below the transom bottom to get the best performance?

I think you should have it the minimum needed to clear the transom when turning it, so the prop does not hit the transom. This would provide the least drag although it would be a miniscule difference IMO. This also helps to keep you from hitting bottom.
