I just bought a 14 ft monark jon that has a hand controlled trolling motor mounted on the transom, next to the 15 hp mercury. It does have an aluminum beck built up front. What, if any are the advantages of keeping it in the back of the boat vs moving it up front where I'll be fishing off of the deck?

If you are fishing from the deck you will want to be able to control the trolling motor from there. I find that my boat is easier to control in the wind with the trolling motor mounted on the bow, rather than the transom.

Thanks baitcaster, that's what I thought too, but figured maybe I was missing something. It seemed to make much more sense to have it within arms reach so I could easily make adjustments.
