1436 sears jonboat flatbottom max horsepower

Was wondering if anyone knows the Max horsepower motor I can put on my 1436 older model sears gamefisher
I have an 1986 15 horsepower evinrude I was thinking of putting on it.

Your 15 hp motor is probably the max your boat is rated for and will do nicely.

Thanks I took it out this weekend it ran good with a bit of flexing around the transom. Is this normal?

If it's flexing enough that you can see it flex while running the boat, that would not be good IMO. You might want to post some pics of how the transom is constructed to see what it looks like

How many benches does it have?
Have any of them been removed?
Are the ribs just on the floor? or do the ribs go up the sides of the boat?

Two benches ribs go up sides. No benches have been removed.
