Aluminum vs Wood

When the time comes to do a boat mod, what is the advantage/disadvantage of wood 2x2's vs aluminum squair tube? I know aluminum will not rot. But what about weight, strength and cost?

I'm currently working on my mod and I'm going with all aluminum. The only con I can come up with is cost......but if you consider the fact that aluminum will last forever, it's worth it. All the aluminum that I've used so far is lighter than wood if you consider the same square footage.
