I bought this 2" tachometer on ebay a couple weeks back. It is just like the standard 3" ones installed on the steering console on most any boat except that it is not adjustable and is a fixed 6 pole tach. I bought it to pair with my 30hp Yamaha tiller in my open concept 1648. My thought was that a 2" tach would be easier to mount somewhere in the rear of the boat than a 3" one. So far though, I haven't had much luck thinking of a good way to go about it. I was initially going to take a 2" rubber plumbing coupler to hold it and then mount to a pvc 45 elbow and short piece of pvc and then mount possibly on the transom. But the problem is that 2" female plumbing fittings are really much larger as they have to accept the OD of typical 2" pipe. I ordered a cheap cup mount off Amazon which is designed for 2" automobile gauges, and while it's a closer fit, its still too big and has no way to snug it down. I think the cup is the way to go I just need to finsd one that fits a little better and has some type of way to tighten it. I was hoping someone here may have a suggestion.
