In my neck of the woods here in S.C. it is hard to find a good used motor from 9.9 to 20 hp. About the only time you can find one is when someone is going to a bigger motor, even if the cowl looks rough and it runs good these motors bring good money with the short shaft being more popular. Good luck!

I have been looking for a 9.9/15 for over a year now. On occasion I find a good deal, but they sell with in a day or two. I see johnson/rudes in the 1970's selling for more than what they person paid for it 40 years ago. So I have come to a conclusion that the rice difference between a 20 year old and a 10 year old motor is slim to none. I am going to look at a 1997 evinrude 9.9 and the guy is asking 700-750. Around here that is a steal for a 15 year old motor. If only my boat could handle a 25hp motor because I could buy one for about 200 bucks more.
