Hello, I have a 2005 Alumacraft 165 Magnum Tiller. It has carpet on the floor that is still in good shape, just dirty.
I am thinking about replacing the floor carpet only with a vinyl flooring. I am not sure it would be worth it if I have to remove all compartments that are on the floor...live well, rod locker, control center. And I really don't what to remove the front deck.

I am thinking about how I could just cut the floor carpet out/up on the floor section and gluing the vinyl to original plywood. Butting the vinyl up to the edge and maybe putting a trim strip of some type along the edge to cover up and hold down the vinyl.

Or getting some 3/8 marine plywood and gluing the vinyl to it and putting it on top of the plywood floor after I remove the carpet .

Here is a photo of a boat just like mine, not mine , but just like mine

Any suggestions or helpful tips ?
Should I dive into this project or just leave the carpet ?
In a way I think I might be opening a can of worms .

Thanks for your time,
Mike

You will open a can of worms! Most likely the carpet is severely glued down.
Pressure wash the carpet and live with it, or do it right and pull all the plywood out.
