SI transducer mount

Hey folks I was wondering how many folks had an SI unit and if they had any advice as to the transducer mount. I have an older FF that I plan to mount on the front TM, and use the SI in back. But from what I have seen, the SI ducers are much larger than normal, and I'm wondering if this might cause any problems. I did measure from the transom to the closest point on the outboard, and at the bottom of the boat its right at 6 1/2 inches. I would have it off to the side of course, but I wanted to see how much clearance there was.

I would appreciate any advice or tips on set-up.

I haven't bought the unit yet, but have gotten the ok from the wife for the HB 898, which is most likely what I'll end up with.

you need to check out the Humminbird forum on Bass Boat Central... lot of knowledgeable guys, and a few H'bird reps seem to live on that forum
