I've seen transom damage many times due to people not using a transom saver while towing. Most of my boats have had one ever since I had to weld up a cracked transom. On my current setup, I didn't have time to install a transom saver before a trip so I used a ratchet strap to hold the motor from bouncing around. Its been working for me for the last 3 years so I thought I'd share this low buck solution.

I use an attwood lock n stow and absolutely love it. I think it does way better than the transom saver. I had a diy version on my old boat that it came with and found one for my new boat when I got it. Super fast to put on and take off.

I had an issue with my transom saver popping out of the slot in the trailer. Wasn't supposed to be able to happen but it did. I was lucky it didn't catch on the ground and do a job on my outboard. I now use a M-Y Wedge. Like it a lot.
